Greetings Friends,
I'm writing to tell you about a new project I'm working on. It's a children's record called, What's the Big Idea?!? The dream for this recording project has been made real by an Artists In Education Grant from the Ontario Arts Council. I'm now seeking further financial support for the recording. If you are interested, please read on to discover some of the details of the recording as well as my plans for raising the necessary funds to make What's the Big Idea a musical reality.
The seed for What's the Big Idea comes from my work this fall as artist-in-residence at the Yarker Family School where I'm currently working with the children on songs for the record. I'll record some of the songs live, others in the studio with the recording and engineering expertise of Matt Rogalsky. My plan is to record not just the songs but an entire soundscape of my work and play with the children in the classroom. These colourful sound-bytes will be woven into the songs to create a playful recording. I will also be working with some fabulous musicians from Kingston and area including Sheehsam & Lotus, The Gertrudes, The Grimwits, and Fireweed.
I've outlined several possible options for involvement in terms of financial support that range from pre-ordering CDs to sponsoring a song to becoming a patron saint. I thank you in advance for considering being a part of What's the Big Idea.
